Welcome to the 2nd annual Ottawa Valley Rally, hosted by Valley Rally Enduro. We’re pumped to have the opportunity to put on another great show for everyone this June. We had lots of feedback from our participants last year and have used that feedback to make 2019 bigger and better than 2018

The rally will take place June 13-16 – 1 afternoon/ evening for registration and meet and greet then 3 days of great riding.  Just like 2018, the OVR 2019 will be traversing through hundreds of kilometers of backroads and trails in the Ottawa Valley, featuring established routes that have been long time local favorites as well as more obscure, less known tracks.  While there is no minimum amount of entrants (this event is happening no matter what), there will likely be a maximum and we will close registration once our maximum is reached. Last year was a seriously great time, so get your name/ team registered ASAP.

The OVR is not a race! It is an adventure ride designed to give participants a chance to experience the spectacular trail networks the Ottawa Valley has to offer, as well as showcasing what Valley Rally Enduro is all about: Off road riding in the Ottawa Valley and supporting our awesome community! Participants can expect great riding, great scenery and great company on the OVR!

As the OVR is an adventure riding event and will have two route classes for this year: Enduro and Dual Sport.

Enduro participants must possess at least a novice level of riding experience and well above that will fair best.  Beginners/newcomers to off road riding will find the Enduro route extremely challenging and we do not recommend participating… Just ask some of our participants from last year. 2019 will be no different. In fact we will be pushing into some serious backwoods this year, so be prepared ;)

DualSport participants should also be experienced. Although not as technical as the Enduro route, some sections on this route will be no less of a challenge on the bigger bikes.

You will need to be part of a team (minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 5). This is for safety reasons – A team provides a safety net for you and your teammates to rely on in case of injuries and/or mechanical issues. You will be provided with the GPS tracks for each days ride.  It is not mandatory for you to follow these tracks, but it is part of the challenge and as such, a big part of the fun. We also provide you with 2 nights camping at Sunny Hill Resort in Barry’s Bay… a great spot, owned and operated by great people! Check them out here: sunnyhillresort.com

Bike requirements: This will be a small to mid-size bike Rally.  450 class bikes are ideal.  250 will be fine, 650 class will struggle on some technical sections.  Anything larger is not recommended, though you may participate if you wish.  Bikes must be insured and plated for on road use as trail sections are joined using roadways and highways.   All bikes must be very off road capable and have aggressive off road knobby tires. Anything short of this will not only make things unnecessarily difficult, but could potentially be unsafe on some trails.  Every team must have at least one (1) first aid kit and one (1) tool kit with extra tubes/patch kit. A bike safety check will be held at check in to ensure all teams meet these requirements. Cell numbers for each team must be submitted to OVR staff upon registration.

Enduro Class:

Day 1 – Thursday June 13th:  You will go through a check in process, which will be held at Sunny Hill Resort (http://www.sunnyhillresort.com/) and will entail: being provided with the GPS files (if you do not receive them in advance), receive your swag bag, attend the riders meeting and waiver signing. We encourage participants to stock up in Barry’s Bay on their way in to alleviate any need for last minute runs to town post ride.

Day 2 – Friday June 14th:  We will Leave Sunny Hill early, hitting some single track immediately out of the resort. From there you will make your way north to a mix of rough ATV trails and remote single track on the edge of Algonquin park with one or two surprises along the way. This will be a long day of riding (250-300 kms to complete the full track). Like Thursday, teams will be on their own for dinner.

Day 3 – Saturday June 15th: After a good night’s sleep, teams are free to depart at their leisure to tackle Saturdays route. Saturday will be a mix of passable snowmobile trails, ATV trails, Hydro line and quick fire service roads. Expect everything from rocks, mud and even a bit of sand (again, 250-300 kms to complete the track). The day ends back at Sunny Hill where we will have the BBQ fired up and ready to serve Burgers and Sausages from one of Ottawa's finest butcher's, The Butchery (http://www.thebutchery.ca/#about-marquee) as well as cold non-alcoholic beverages (See ticket price descriptions below). Post BBQ, the Raffle Prize Draw will be held and fireside tales of great deeds accomplished on two wheels shall commence.

Day 4 – Sunday June 16th: With the assumption that everyone got after it on Friday and Saturday, Sunday’s route will be a short loop of easy to medium trails and backroads that’ll get everyone back to Sunny Hill and on their way home in a reasonable amount of time.

Dual Sport Class:

Day 1 – Thursday June 13th:  You will go through a check in process, which will be held at Sunny Hill Resort (http://www.sunnyhillresort.com/) and will entail: being provided with the GPS files (if you do not receive them in advance), receive your swag bag, attend the riders meeting and waiver signing. We encourage participants to stock up in Barry’s Bay on their way in to alleviate any need for last minute runs to town post ride.

Day 2 – Friday June 14th:  The Dual Sport teams will Leave Sunny Hill at the same time as the Enduro teams, but will be heading south east to start the day with some awesome hill climbs up to some of the best vantage points in the Valley. From there teams will progress further south into the Weslemkoon trail system to a Lunch stop where there is fuel and a great little chip stand. After fuelling up bikes and bodies, teams will turn north again to hit up some great backroad action followed by one last trail run before the final leg back into Sunny Hill.

Day 3 – Saturday June 15th: After a good night’s sleep, teams are free to depart at their leisure to tackle Saturdays route. Day 3 will see the Dual Sport teams head south west, warming everyone up on some flowing ATV/Sled trails. From there teams will ride dirt roads and double track, working their way progressively south ending up on some of the best ATV trails in the region which will lead teams to Saturday’s lunch stop and fuel point. After Lunch the route will turn back north and get everyone back to Sunny Hill for the BBQ and Prize Draw via a good mix of double track and fire service roads.

Day 4 – Sunday June 16th: With the assumption that everyone got after it on Friday and Saturday, Sunday’s route will be a shorter loop of easy to medium trails, backroads and Hydro line that’ll get everyone back to Sunny Hill and on their way home in a reasonable amount of time.

OVR will not be providing sweep riders. Once you start each days track you will effectively be on your own. Please prepare and plan accordingly.
